Coffee photography

You know that warm steaming coffee you see advertised in the train station on your way to work? Let me tell you a secret 9 times out of 10 it's not coffee at all, it's water mixed with brown seasoning to look like coffee but shhh, don't tell anyone I told you. A chemical called photoflow can also be added to the mixture to add bubbles and steam chips, activated by water are placed behind the "coffee" to make fake steam. If a photographer wants steam in a specific position they often incense sticks and waft them over the coffee cup. usually coffee is only photographed against a balck background as this helps the camera capture the steam, this can then be edited after, and intensified.

Mcdonalds

Believe it or not Mcdonalds use their actual food and potion sizes in their advertising campaigns, they just bring the ingredients closer to the camera. The burgers are always layered from the bottom up and syringes are used for ketchup and mustard. As for that melting, gooey cheese that drips over the edges looking like its just fresh off the grill, that was the work of a glamorous assistant armed with a mini hairdryer.
