Here are some mock ups of what I want the layout of my final images to look like.

I created a white canvas and layered my image on top. I decided to place my image slightly above the centre to allow more space below the image for text. I added a thin black line around the photo to create a border between the end of the image and the start of the canvas. This also adds definition as it prevents the edges of the image disappearing into the canvas.
