Basic Project Proposal

My idea for this assignment is to produce imagery that portrays mental health issues. I plan to do studio portraits and use the scanner art technique I learnt in the images and dreams assignment to overlay text on the images. I will ask people who have suffered with mental health problems how they feel. I will then copy this onto acetate, scan it into the computer and layer it over the image.

One of the main artists who has influenced this concept is Andrea Costantini. His work entitled “Oblivion- A different state of mind”, “Imaginaira- The world as I see it” and “Where is my mind” are some of my favourites. I will also research the charities “Mind” and “Childline” as this is a sensitive subject that needs to be executed perfectly.

As this is a studio based project I am going research and analyse different lighting techniques as even small changes to lighting can affect the whole look and feel of an image.

This post beautifully captures the creative thought process behind developing a meaningful and visually compelling body of work. The focus on personal storytelling and thematic refinement is especially valuable for students and emerging photographers. It’s inspiring to see how location, emotion, and composition come together with intent. A well-structured project proposal like this sets the foundation for a successful final presentation. A thoughtful and motivating read for anyone pursuing visual arts.
