Now don't get me wrong, I love the internet it's great, you have a who host of information right at your fingertips. However for me you can't beat a good old book, flicking through the pages waiting for something to catch your eye.
treasure, "Absolut Book. The absolut vodka advertising story". Now considering I want to advertise glass vodka bottles and cocktails I struck gold when i found this and even did a little squeal of excitement.I had a good dig about in the library and came across this

With a couple of clicks and a fabulous piece of equipment, A.K.A a scanner, my favorite images from the book are below!
This is my favorite image from the book as it is very similar to my original idea. I also plan to shoot a Martini glass and vodka bottle. In this shot the photographer has lit the background, behind the bottle to highlight the product. The cocktail glass has been manipulated in postproduction to appear as if it is bending towards the bottle, like it's attracted to the vodka. This also relates to the strapline "Absolute attraction"
These adverts also have spotlights on the bottle to highlight it and give a sophisticated, crisp finish. The image in the top right hand corner has a sparkle/reflection on the edge of the bottle that again links with the signature strapline 'Absolut..." this time they have used the text "Absolut gem". This sends a message to the viewer that Absolut vodka is the best of the bunch, the treasure.
This advert was produce to highlight the fact that Absolut vodka had been certified as Kosher. They have used their signature spotlight lighting technique to keep the advert simple and to the point. Unlike the other images this in black and white instead of colour.
The main elements I want to try and incorporate into my images are, the simple use of one line of text, brightly lit backgrounds and minimal props.
Voilà, my Absolut influences!
