Product photography at home- The Editing

I chose this image from my previous phtotoshoot, (relevant blog post here) as i wanted to brighten up the background and make the product stand out.

To edit this image I opened the file in Photoshop camera RAW and made some basic adjustments. I started off by upping the exposure slightly as I wanted the entire image to be slighly brighter and eliminate the grey tones in the background increasing the whites also helped with this. I then raised the contrast level to help differentiate the bottle from the background and make it pop! The final main adjustment I made was to increase the clarity, this allowed me to make the label of the bottle clearer and easier for the viewer to read.

I am pleased with the final image I have produced, I successfully created reflections and showcased the product well. I like the strong contrast between the subject and background as it is obvious what the product is. If I were to Re-shoot this image again I would make sure my backdrop is opaque as you can see the surface underneath.

From this shoot I have learned how to photograph glass and create or eliminate reflections depending on where I want them. I have also gained experience with working in a small pop-up studio.
