Artist research- Carl Warner

Carl Warner is a Liverpool based photographer, his most famous work includes foodscapes made from miniature table top scenes.

The above image entitled Raspberry river is one of my favourites from his foodscape collection, The bright white highlights add an icy edge to the image which portrays the ice cream he has used to create this scene. The "river" running through the image draws the views eye into the photo, helping to add depth. The reflections in the river help the image appear realistic and shows good technical ability in the post-production stage. The magenta hues help tie all the elements of the photograph together, the raspberry ripples, the river, the "waterfall", the sky and the clusters of fruit.

Crockerville was commissioned by Betty Crocker and is one of the most detailed scenes warner has ever created. It was constructed completely from Betty Crocker cookie mix and recipes. I love the light in this photograph. The way it's made to appear like a moonlit town with glowing windows. The composition of the image allows the viewer to see the the textures of the food as well as the bigger picture. Like the image above he has used leading lines, this time in the form of a "gravel track".
