To help me get an idea of what the commercial photography market is like I searched Google for commercial photographers in my local area. I wanted to find out the kind of prices they charge for jobs so that I could charge competitive yet realistic prices for my work

These photographers have a range of different prices and formats, some charge per day or half day, others charge a price per shoot. The price formats are dependent on the type of commission it is. For example family portrait shoots often have a standard set price as they are quite common and can be fitted into a specific time slot.
This has helped me to decide that should I choose to charge for my work during this assignment I will use an hourly, half day and full day rate.
